Out of My Mind for 13 August 2009

Picture 33

Killers: The health insurance industry. How else are you going to make obscene profits?

Exposed! The truth about healthcare reform!

Assholes and scumbags: Niall Ferguson and the assholes at the Financial Times who publishes odious shit like this:

President Barack Obama reminds me of Felix the Cat. One of the best-loved cartoon characters of the 1920s, Felix was not only black. He was also very, very lucky. And that pretty much sums up the 44th president of the US …

Of course: FT is foreign so just might not have sufficiently elevated taste so as to recognize how stupidly offensive it is. Then, too, editors don’t really edit very much anymore, by and by, specially for a superstar like Professor Ferguson, who all get a pass until the media shitstorm. As for the writer, Professor F has made his fortune by being able to twist any fact or reality into something the gives support to establishment positions based in fact on utter bullshit. He gives them a false intellectual sheen. Professor K has a review of the column the quote above opens.

Assholes, cretins and traitors: The barbaric imbeciles who use town halls for violence and disruption and the organizations that control them. Again, these people’s contribution to the well being of the American society is, at most, insignificant. In the macroeconomic sense, they barely pay their way, as it were, if at all, so, well, fuck them. They’re proto-fascist, anti-democracy and freedom, and deliberately completely ignorant so who needs them? Doubt me? Here‘s how wilfully stupid and ignorant they are. And they maintain their stupidity and ignorance by rely on assholes like this guy.

What a deal! Buy a Pre and Palm spies on you!

Assholes: The MPAA one-ups the RIAA: They want to punish you without bothering with any legal silliness. A system of law is so 20th century, not at all what’s needed in what the corporatists want this country to be, a banana republic.

Gee, the banks haven’t gotten rid of all them toxic assets. They’ve instead lied about them and ignored them but they’re still there. Watch! The better to re-inflate the speculation bubble which brought the country a golden age of widespread, broadly-distributed, long-term wealth. Not.

Speaking of which, watch this too.

Hey! The wingnuts’ death panels already exist — and the private, capitalist, non-socialist health insurers have them. Watch here!

Douchebag: She didn’t only play one named for herself, she is one.

Out of My Mind for 5 August 2009

Freed! From a couple of months imprisoned in North Korea: Comrade-journos (whih is to say real, non-MSM journos) Laura Ling and Euna Lee. (More here.)

Big Pharma’s deadly fraud: The story and the proof.

Sub-cretinous idiots with too much time on their hands and no sense; read about them and their stupidity here.

A tiny bit of justice: Creationist owner of creationist amusement park busted for tax fraud; him and Al Cap[one…. He would have paid his taxes, it’s just that God told him not to….

The shame that is modern journalism: a pathological refusal to deal in facts and accuracy, everything must be undercut to the point of meaninglessness. Maybe the MSM’s infected by this pathology…? And here’s another, related example of their inherent corruption and deliberate dishonesty.

America: It ain’t what it used to be (which I of course credit to what I call the Raygun counter-revolution*.) We’re ever more subsumed which is to say we’re ever more losing freedom…. (*For every revolution, there’s an equally powerful counter-revolution of one sort or another.)

What makes ours the World’s Greatest Healthcare System!

The GOP believes there’s no problem for which tax cuts aren’t the solution. Bad idea (you knew that but here’s proof.) Republicans: Only good if you hate America.

Cretinous scumbag: Orly Taitz. Can’t someone please shut her up since the MSM seems to find her newsworthy? And if you don’t believe she’s utter garbage, here’s proof.

Murderous Christian scumbag? Blackwater founder Erik Prince.

So, the next Mac OS has more pre-orders on Amazon than Win7. What I wonder: What percentage of PC owners buy upgrades as opposed to just getting them with new hardware as compared to Mac owners.

This is cool! (Warning: Site takes forever to load.)

Out of My Mind for 4 August 2009

Why we’re doomed: $100,000,000.00 in lobbying $$$ to doom or corrupt or, I should say, pervert health reform. Much more on the slow (and inexcuseable) death of true reform here.

I don’t know what kind of idiot she is: Kay Bailey Hutchinson and, maybe, the most insane campasign website ever. I dunno, maybe she wants to be the new Palin…?

Asshole and cretin: Prodigy wingnut and the Times’ new loony, Ross Douthat.

Assholes and scumbags: The GOP was for Medicare rationing until it became opposed to a non-existent plan for Medicare rationing.

Wow, does Obama actually give a shit about this country?? If so, where’s the proof, other than lip?

Asshole: President John Sidney McCain III. Again. Clearly a cunt, hence his selection of Palin.

So we couldn’t trust GE to screw around with news coverage after all. What a surprise…. Corporate journalism: who needs it?

Asshole: Rush Limbaugh. Of course.

Oooh, Obama has a Kenyan birth certificate! Watch and learn:

Sick fuck savages: The wingnuts. They’re all crazed, aren’t they?

The nightmare that is the Florida housing market, a tribute to the bubble. (How come Obama doesn’t want that bubble re-inflated?)

Hell on earth.

Hack parking meters, park for free??

Experiment on yourself.

Micro$oft innovation: closed open standards. Innovating crap….

Was Tenenbaum a putz?

(About that last video.)

(More about that last video here.)

(About that last video here.)

Personally, I don’t believe he has nuts to hit or, at least, is so easy a target…:

Does this make you horny?

Still Here, Still Enraged; Out of My Mind for 28 July 2009

Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without. — Buddha

Scumbags: Bio-Pirates.

The world’s greatest healthcare insurance system: The GOP doesn’t want you insured, just to pay premiums and get no service or coverage. I’ll ask: Do the fuckers really believe this crap they spew or do they say it solely because they’re paid to? Congress no longer leads, they just shill for their paylords.

Lying scumbags: These senators who want to institutionalize the insurers’ refusal to cover and call it reform. Now, I wait for Obama to simply say he will sign no bill without a vigorous public option. Bets?

Cretins: To the Times, it’s front page news that texting while driving is really bad. (And this one is little better. Or this.) Tell me that any paper who can make a call like that is of any importance to the world.

Scumbags: The RIAA: More proof that all the theft isn’t actually hurting the recording industry. Still no proof to the contrary…. Me, I see all the “thievery” not so much as a free alternative to buying but as a replacement of free radio as a try-before-you-buy system. Me, I think it’s nuts that anyone would really think that people would continue to buy freely without being able to get any idea what’s on album, whether it’s anything they’d care to buy, that people would continue to buy deaf.

(The story behind that last video is here.)

Cretin: Anyone who could watch this and say Palin has anything to offer in any leadership position whatsoever:

Dead: Merce Cunningham. (Check this out too.) A leader from the time when there was an avant-garde, before the only avant-garde was among the speculators looking for new but insensible investment devices….

The dirty secret of the Kindle: It’s ugly to look at.

This is where I’d love to live (at least if I could get broadband). Although maybe I’d like to visit some of these places or some of these.

Leadership We Need, and Hope; Out of My Mind for 10 July

Beloved Leader couldn't have done this any better....

As Big Journalism implodes and collapses and stuff, here’s one asshole who deserves — well, as one of the terminated, it’s hard for me to say fired — let’s just say he’s well qualified to seek a new profession as journalism is clearly wrong for him, given his utter lack of perspective and ability to perceive and acknowledge reality.

What do you think? Don’t you think plagiarism is deliberate or results from some form of imbecility, neither of which is appropriate a professional, legitimate journalist? I mean, how the hell do you copy something unconsciously?

Whoa, it’s Jayson Blair time at the Times again!

By all means, let’s worry about closeted gays serving in the military, not America-hating Nazis (or, for that matter, Christofascist proselytizers).

Unrest in China: what it’s about.

Are we dead in the water, with no future?

You don’t get published via Kindle; you give Amazon all your rights for your work to be available on a Kindle. Sweet! Not.

GOP family values: Getting your parents to pay off your mistress.

Palin lies. (More here and here.) Yeah, yeah, what else is new?

Palin’s enablers. (Remember, the whole GOP loves her, don’tcha know.)

Levi: Greed, not insanity, made Palin a quitter.

IT departments of small amd mid-sized businesses are interested in Macs and iPhones. I see it as cost-cutting in the IT industry created by the shitty difficulty of maintaining windows systems. Ditching one IT guy can save far more than the expense of switching to Macs and iPhones (which we know works wonderfully with Macs).

Too big to fail, now too big to jail.

A single GM car outsells Buick and Caddy!

Another teeny piece of my past, gone….

Read: The autobiography of Professor Krugman’s favorite science fiction writer.

The comic book of the day is here. (More here.) Another funny book is here. Remember, kids, these are good for you! (Well, at least the second is….)

I can’t afford to eat here anyway.

Much, Much Mellower; Out of My Mind for 2 July 2009

We’re far less independent than we used to be, aren’t we?

So the guy in this video was worship by us lefties ’cause he said some stuff that we liked to hear, but then the wingnuts started bashing him as being a whacko or something — IIRC. But clearly it looks like he was on to something….

Direct action for the public option. (Where’s Barack?) Stop the presses: Looks like a public option is again a possibility.

Xeni got this right: essential reading; Taibbi on Goldman Sachs. I say: read it, then kill the fuckers (I of course say that the exact same way Bill O’Reilly would were he referring to an abortionist.)

I used to like Harold Baer….

Sanford doesn’t have to quit. He can hang around forever, an inspiration for contempt for the modern, Palin wing of the GOP….

Speaking of what the GOP has to offer the world: Rush Limbaugh, GOP head: Michael Jackson was murdered. By Obama. Gotta be pretty sick to give this asshole any legitimacy.

This is cool!

This is not:

My wife might find this funny.

Wankery is actually a good thing.

Talk about incest! All the world’s ants are members of the same family?

Who doesn’t love day-glo???

What we used to create art before the digital era, brushes before Brushes, as it were. (Then again, this guy adapted….)

God bless the Chinese….

See an obsession.

To me, cars just get better and better (and I don’t refer to the flacid Prius):

The blackest black ever? (Not a [I can’t say the name] joke, but black is my favorite color.)

Who doesn't worship Jabba??

I love the movie this is from!

Supersized for Wednesday Out of My Mind for 1 July 2009

Message for you, Mr. President.
Message for you, Mr. President.

Attention, Sanfords, Spitzers, Obamas, you and me:

What counts in making a happy marriage is not so much how compatible you are, but how you deal with incompatibility.” — Leo Tolstoy

The important thing is not to stop questioning. — Albert Einstein

The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that’s the essence of inhumanity. — George Bernard Shaw

Bore, n.: A guy who wraps up a two-minute idea in a two-hour vocabulary. — Walter Winchell

Our Leaders clearly do not believe in the need for financial reform. Bipartisanship at last.

Enough with the confessions; he must resign. That simple. Like Bernie Madoff may never be a free man again, Sanford must be out of government immediately. Unless he honestly confesses and apologizes for being a hypocritical asshole instead of a narcissistic philanderer. (The former is my problem with him, not the latter; in view of what he married, he has a chunk of my sympathy.)

Why is this a major story? Isn’t it straight from the Duh Dept.? We need newspapers and Big Journalism for this?

Many With Insurance Still Bankrupted by Health Crises

The apparent lesson of Tony George: Pissing away money for no good reason (and destroying open wheel racing in this country) is okay in a good economy but bad in a weak economy. Truth: pissing away money is never a very good idea.

The truly awful thing about Windows isn’t its inherent crappiness but the time and cost in simple maintenance: anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-everything. Of course, this helped create a small industry and employment and wealth but still. Unacceptable.

I’m still sad about Kodachrome. Film was so damn sexy. Digital is efficient but frigid 😦

Learn how to really do it fix things here.

Everyone loves Sarah — not. Only makes sense since she’s, well, dumb and crazy and all…. Speaking of which, since the media still feels a need to give her greatly undue publicity, I would think her death would be the only way to stop the Press (so to speak); I course merely paraphrase Bill O’Reilly and make no suggestions…. Oooh, and watch the wingnuts go crazy over the Vanity Fair piece. Just imagine: it was a scoop that she was stupid narcisssist, like it was so hard to figure out….

Let’s go to PARC! (Without it, this blog almost definitely would not be here.)

Go inside the Madoff marriage.

Eat these. If you, you know, dare.
