No Hope, No Change; Only the Year is New, Nothing Else….

More New Year's greetings at end of post.

Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine. — Sir Arthur Eddington

What do you have to do? Pack your bags, Go to the station without them, Catch the train, And leave your self behind. — Open Secret by Wei Wu Wei

The truth is what is; what should be is a dirty lie. — Lenny Bruce

The important thing is not to stop questioning. — Albert Einstein

Patriotism is the conviction that your country is superior to all others because you were born in it. — George Bernard Shaw Ergo, the teabaggers and wingnuts and Republicans and all the rightist haters of our freedoms are indeed the true patriots…..

Happy New Year! Colorado to its bottom-end workers: Drop dead!

And also from Colorado, some wingnut sickness* (as Mark Twain said, “But I repeat myself”):

While us guys dream of President Palin -- you know you do -- she must dream of stuff like this. Is this a great country or what?

(*How sick is this? The sick fuck was too stupid, classless or otherwise fucked up to delete the photographer’s credit  from the photo he used. Explanation here. Disgusting. Actually, that’s an understatement.)

The Wingnut Mentality: The short version. Why do people like this get any publicity or exposure? (Or these people with nothing to offer in the area of rational discourse as opposed to lies and mindless posturing and pandering to other crazies.) Why do the elite media insist on dumping this on us? Their shrinking audience should prove that there’s no need to bombard people with lies and dementia. I’d love to live long enough to see Reason rule again….

A proof that this nation is seriously fucked up. And here’s another one!

A breath of fresh air and straight talking. Which is to say, something highly atypical.

How banks make money now: Not by actually lending money but by cooking their books (like, by ignoring billions in worthless loans) and by bombarding us with fees. It’s funny in a fucked up way that Jamie Dimon is lionized for having been hired by a bank with limited exposure to the mortgage business and then buying a bank catering to the wealthy and otherwise avoiding the whole investment thing. Prescient in the case of the latter or just unable to get into the investment business? And what about Chase’s humongous credit card operation…? House of cards ready to fall…?

Blackwater killers, getting away with murder. One finds it a little strange how all these cases prosecuted by the Cheney/Rove/Bush Justice Department seem to collapse from ineptitude, mishandling, etc. One might well think that… no, Republican believers in law and order would never sabotage a case against their lawbreaking supporters, would they?

Scumbag Human piece of shit: Pete Sessions.

Again, it’s not just the terrorists who (allegedly) hate us for our freedoms — it’s the post-Raygun Republicans. More here about how in our total war on terrorism we’re (by which I of course mean the wingnuts and the pols scared of them) mostly shooting ourselves in the feet. And why our security must fail and allow terrorists freedom.

Query: Why do we seem, despite history, to be obsessed with “fixing” symptoms and refuse to address underlying causes?

Obama’s “help” for homeowners: Failure. Anyone surprised? They either fail or refuse perceive the real problem: Lenders loaned greatly excessive amounts of money to people who couldn’t afford payments in the best of times. The underlying homes were grossly overvalued. Put it this way: Money was lent based on a valuation of $250,000.00 for a $100,000.00 home to people who could maybe afford to carry a $75,000.00 loan. No need to go into it again, but the lenders knew what they were doing. So, a proper bill would of course ensure the lender, not the borrower, pay. And this bill of course does not. Hope? Change?? Where? (More here, by which I mean a deeper, more lucid analysis. A more deeper analysis/assumption of the administration’s “thinking” is here. I say, again, the problem was, well, far more fucked up than the administration knew or, for that matter, cared to know. If this last link is correct, the administration, again, did not comprehend the nature of the loans. The only proper solution is to make the lenders eat their losses from irresponsible lending.)

This guy’s a jerk, but as an ex-pol only to be expected. But he does something unusual for a modern Republican: he’s realized that the GOP actually is not a party of conservatives.

So where’s this GOP operator now? Was she rewarded for her abusive acts?

Another reason flying is ever more enjoyable. Not.

Somehow, this reminds of the wingnuts:

G***** m*****f***ing s***!!!!!!! Lookit:

Scoop?? Who cares? Love is always beautiful!
