An Embarrassment of Riches; The Only One Available in this Era

*Not* the vehicle of choice of this blog. (Being very, very practical, I'm currently lusting for a 135i cabrio.)

By the time I’d grown up, I naturally supposed that I’d be grown up. — Eve Babitz

Reading made Don Quixote a gentleman. Believing what he read made him mad. — George Bernard Shaw

Tact is the ability to tell a man he has an open mind when he has a hole in his head. /.

I didn’t realize how good his performance was in “Crazy Heart” til I listened to the soundtrack for about the ninth time. In part, one of those career Oscars as opposed to a win for a terrific performance, but it was that too. Sweet.

Anyone who is willing to work and is serious about it will certainly find a job. Only you must not go to the man who tells you this, for he has no job to offer and doesn’t know anyone who knows of a vacancy. This is exactly the reason why he gives you such generous advice, out of brotherly love, and to demonstrate how little he knows the world. (Link.)

The fight against web censorship.

There they go again: Funny, in a very sick way, how the GOP goes crazy when the Dems co-opt their policies. Today’s example: Obama wants to scrap the space shuttle fleet and replace it with a private rocket industry. Fact: The shuttles are in fact rocketing to the history bin — sent there by the Republicans during the Cheney-Rove-Bush administration. But now that Obama’s — well, actually locked into the plan, they’re against it. Perversion: What a great way to make policy. And of course the elite media’s got their back. What a f***ed up world.

Yet another GOP lie. And what’s going to be done about it? The elite media’s certainly not going to explode all over it, are they? Surely they’ll give the fucker a pass because he’s a Republican and he’s allowed to be utterly full of shit and get away with it, right?

Restoring pride in America, the America-hating Republican way: more than you’d care to know about just what went on t the Gitmo water-boarding sessions. Oh, I’m sorry, the need for crap intel justified the acts. If every single Republican died right now, it would be an improvement for America.

If the entire GOP is against this, then which scumbag approved it. Did it appear by magic?

Asshole: David Malpass. More here. Another one whose death would only be good for the world.

Yeah, yeah, we’ll see….

Again: A child with Down’s Syndrome is not a retard. The parents of one who they name Trig — they really, really are retards. Contrary to the mother, retard is an actual, legitimate word. For instance, a normal person who is abnormally stupid can properly be called a retard. Case closed.

Sarah Palin is surely against healthcare reform. Why? Because when she needs affordable care, she steals it in Canada.

Is this a healthy democracy? Just because the elite media is going through paroxysms of ecstasy over them doesn’t, amazingly, make it so.

This kind of crap should make one happy to live in a corporatist world. Well, at least make a retard an ignorant dope.

Latest Obama fail for homeowners in distress is a double Fail: The policy itself and that the Times bizarrely thinks it belongs on page 1.

Thanks to our leaders, it’s a wonderful world.

An Avatar-like reality. No, not blue aliens: murderous exploitation of another people’s resources. And the bad guys are winning.

And if healthcare reform fails, it’s clear we get what we have: an awful system getting worse. And in the current era, that means doing nothing and just live with it. If only the Times editorial board didn’t rely so much on Times coverage….

The Chile quake, the very short version: Harm limited as it was due to a Socialist’s policies, current failure due to the usual conservative ineptitude. You know: a latin Katrina.

Inexplicably, this amused me.

The problem is this is choosing the right place to go (see my comment here — you can guess which is mine):

(More about the singer here.)

Tik-tok indeed:
